Never pay a third party just to see what is on the test. ETS publishes a free Study Companion PDF for every exam with the exact domain weights and sample items. Every exam in TeachDayOne links straight to it.
Read the worked lesson for one competency, study the common exam traps, and drill our 690 questions (74 official ETS + 616 authored) until your weak spots disappear on the Progress tab.
When you register for your actual Praxis exam on the ETS site, they include one free official practice test. Save it for two weeks before test day as your dress rehearsal.
| Prep Option | Typical Cost | What you get | The catch for budget-conscious teachers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly Prep Subscriptions (Study.com, 240 Tutoring, etc.) |
$40 – $60 / month | Structured lessons and drills on a recurring monthly billing cycle. | Bills you every month until you cancel; two or three months of studying easily costs more than the Praxis exam itself. |
| Single Printed Prep Books (Cirrus, Mometrix,REA) |
$25 – $45 per exam | One book for one exam code, plus 1–2 static paper practice tests. | Often printed against retired exam codes; awkward to use on a bus or during a 15-minute prep period. |
| Free Teaser Quiz Sites | "Free" + Email Gate | 10 to 15 sample questions before hitting a hard paywall. | No competency-level tracking, no worked lessons, and aggressive daily upsell emails. |
| TeachDayOne (This site) |
$0 forever | 690 questions, 427 worked lessons, timed full-length runs, per-competency mastery, and offline phone support. | Independent project (not ETS), no score guarantee, and no sales team — just the study material. |
Research on pre-service teachers shows that the biggest source of test anxiety is not the subject matter — it is walking into the testing center without knowing the exact shape and pace of the exam. Here is the specification for all 8 exams:

It is pacing, not difficulty, that catches people out. Most candidates lose marks by grinding one hard item and then running out of clock on easy ones. Answer what you know first, mark the rest, come back with whatever is left.
If you have sat this before and it did not go well, the useful part of that is usually the mechanics rather than the content. You now know how long the test runs, how many questions are on it, and roughly how long you get on each one. That is a third of the exam handled before you walk in.
ETS retires exam codes and reassigns numbers. A lot of study material online is still built on codes that no longer exist, and nobody mentions it. Here is exactly what this material was written from.
| Code | Exam | Outline titles | ETS items | Authored items | Competencies |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5025 | Early Childhood Education | Transcribed | 0 | 82 | 48 |
| 5047 | MS English Language Arts | Transcribed | 0 | 67 | 33 |
| 5101 | Business Education | Transcribed | 30 | 111 | 99 |
| 5164 | Middle School Math | Transcribed | 0 | 90 | 50 |
| 5622 | PLT K-6 | Transcribed | 19 | 72 | 61 |

Every exam here is built from the official ETS content outline, and this page says which parts came from a published Study Companion and which parts we wrote. Check the current test specification on ETS's own page before you register.
Eight tools designed for busy future teachers studying between classes, shifts, or family life. No roadmap, no beta.
Single answer, multiple answer, numeric entry, and constructed response. The explanation is there whether you got it right or wrong, because a lucky guess teaches you nothing.
Key terms, core points, worked examples, the traps the exam is known for, and a self-check. Not a summary of a summary.
Not one percentage. The number that matters is the name of the topic you keep getting wrong.
Everything, one content area at a time, or only the items you flagged to come back to.
The whole exam, on the clock, with the explanations held back until the end so you cannot peek.
Five questions, reshuffled when you retry, and a mark for whether you have it.
It installs to the home screen on iOS and Android and works on a train or in a school building with weak Wi-Fi.
Progress lives in this browser. Signing in is optional and adds cross-device sync and nothing else.
Five things backed by cognitive psychology on retrieval practice and test anxiety. They are short on purpose, because advice you cannot hold in your head is advice you will not do.
Reading over material feels like studying and is the weakest use of your time. Recognition is not recall, and the exam asks you to recall.
Retrieval practice, meaning self-testing, is one of the best-evidenced study methods there is. It beats rereading, restudying, and rereading your notes.
Right or wrong, the explanation is where the learning happens. Wrong answers especially, because those are the ones you got lucky on.
Spacing beats cramming. The same hour split across five days is worth more than five hours on one night.
Full length, timed, no pausing. Pacing is a skill and it is learned by doing, not by thinking about doing.
One reassurance worth having. Practice questions in this app are not the real exam, and your score on them is not your Praxis score. Use them to find the competencies you do not know yet. That is the whole job.
This is the part most prep material skips.
From published ETS Study Companions. They carry ETS's own answer rationales. In the app they are labelled ETS.
Against the official content outlines and national teaching standards. In the app they are labelled Authored.
You are never guessing which one you are looking at, and authored items cite the standard or reference they were written from.
All 8 exams here have their outline titles transcribed from ETS's own documents.
We do not reproduce ETS questions, answer rationales or case histories in our marketing copy. They are in the app, labelled, where you asked for them.
$0. Not a 7-day trial.
TeachDayOne costs $0. There is no premium tier, no paywall, no trial, no advertising and no account requirement.
No account. No email capture. No advertising. No analytics. No premium tier. No card, ever, because there is nothing to put a card into. No countdown, because nothing here is running out.
Prep in this category is usually a subscription, and a subscription is a decision you have to keep making every month. This is the one that does not need a decision. The arithmetic is yours to do, and the number is zero.
We are not going to put a photo of a smiling person on this page and call them a user. They would be a stock photograph, because we have no users to photograph. Here is what you can check instead.
Add a question to an exam, rebuild, and this page changes. None of it is typed in.
With a timestamp in the corner. If something is broken, the report identifies the build.
There is no analytics script and no result is ever sent to a server, so grading keeps working with the network off. That is also why we cannot tell you anyone's score, and therefore why there will never be a pass rate here.
And links to ETS's own page for it. Put the two side by side.
That is not a boast, it is a check the build runs and fails on.
At the item level, so you can always tell which of the two kinds you are looking at.
We have no testimonials, no star ratings, no user count and no pass rate, because we do not collect results and we have never counted users. If we ever do, we will print the number and the denominator.
She is optional, she does nothing until you turn her on, and she is not free in the way the rest of this is.
Answers questions about the competency you are reading at the time, cites the competencies it drew on, and streams the reply. She is scoped to the outline rather than to generic study advice.
A MiniMax API key, which you add yourself in Settings. It is a paid MiniMax credential. It is held in that browser and used to call MiniMax directly from your device. We do not provide one, and we cannot see yours.
A source of truth. The outline and the items labelled ETS are the source of truth. Where she and the outline disagree, the outline is right and she is wrong.
Nothing. Every question, every explanation and every self-test works without her. She is the one part of this app you could delete and keep the rest.
Yes to both, and the second half is the useful part. There is no paid bit. The whole app is the free bit: all 690 questions, all 427 competencies, progress tracking, the timed runs and the offline app. There is no premium tier to upgrade to, no trial that expires, and nothing to buy now or later. If a page about Praxis prep is trying to sell you something, this one is not it.
Registration for a Praxis test already runs $130 to $170+ out of pocket before background checks and state licensing fees. Do not spend another $50 to $60 a month on prep subscriptions. First, download the free official ETS Study Companion PDF for your exam code. Second, use the free interactive practice test ETS includes when you register. Third, drill all 690 questions and 427 worked lessons here in TeachDayOne for $0.
Partly, and the app tells you which part. 74 of the 690 questions are transcribed from published ETS Study Companions, and they carry ETS's own answer rationales. Those are labelled ETS in the app. The other 616 are written for this app against the official content outlines, and are labelled Authored. All 8 exams here have their outline titles transcribed from ETS's own documents. A score in TeachDayOne is not a Praxis score, and nothing here predicts yours.
No. TeachDayOne is an independent project, not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by ETS or the Praxis® trademark holders. Praxis® and ETS® are registered trademarks of Educational Testing Service. For the authoritative version, the Study Companion and the free practice test that comes with test registration are both worth having, and both come from ETS.
That depends on your state, your grade band and your programme, and it is not ours to answer. Your state's education agency publishes the list of required exams for each credential, and your programme coordinator will know it in about a minute. If a code you were given is not on the list above, ETS probably changed it, and there is a section further down for exactly that.
We are not going to promise you anything, because we do not know your result and neither does this app. What it does give you is the mechanics. You get how long the test runs, how many questions are on it, and how long you have on each one. You also get a per-competency list of the specific topics you are getting wrong. Those are facts you do not have yet if you sat the test without them.
Yes to both. It installs to the home screen on iOS and Android and runs offline through a service worker. Progress is stored in that browser, so there is nothing to sign into and nothing to lose if you clear the app.
Your progress stays in your browser. There is no analytics script, no advertising network and no result is sent to a server, which means nothing about your performance leaves your device. An account is optional and adds cross-device sync and nothing else. If you use Ms. Kaya, the API key you add is held in that browser and used to call MiniMax directly from your device.
You do not need it, and it is the one part of this app that is not free. The optional AI tutor, Ms. Kaya, does nothing until you add your own MiniMax API key in Settings, which is a paid MiniMax credential. Every question, explanation and self-test works without her.
Yes, and that is the main number in the app. Progress breaks your accuracy down by competency and by content area, so you can see which part of the outline to study next rather than just an overall percentage. One honest detail: the written responses on 5622 are never scored by the app. They are recorded as attempted, and shown separately from your multiple-choice accuracy. They are 25% of that exam, and folding them into one number either way would tell you something false.
No account, no card, no sales call, and nothing to cancel later. Tap an exam above and you are on a question in under two seconds.

Using the free option is not a compromise. If you are studying on a tight budget, you are not the person the paid tier was built for. This is the whole thing, it costs nothing, and the free practice test you get with test registration is worth having too. Use both.
